HAPPY BIRTHDAY TATANG!

February 24- It was Tatang's first birthday that he could not celebrate it with us. That day was as painful as the first Christmas and New Year without him. He turned 86 last Wednesday and we celebrated his day by visiting him at the cemetery to offer our prayers with a bunch of flowers.
Last year, we celebrated his birthday with a simple feast at home. He was already feeling weak then that we had to assist him when sitting and standing up. We had a birthday cake for him complete with number candles for him to blow. Unfortunately, the photos we took got deleted before we even got back-up copies. Little did we know that it was his last birthday with us.
Ocassions will never be the same without him. This year just got started and there are more to come. Things are definitely different without him. ;(

Tatang's 40 Days

Yesterday was Tatang's 40 Days of Death and part of the Filipino tradition is to celebrate it with a mass.

Remembering the Departed.
The mass was held in the Virgen delos Remedios Chapel at 10 am and was presided by Fr.Deo Galang. Part of his homily was about life and death with excerpts from the best-selling novel 'Tuesdays with Morrie'. He mentioned that:
'DEATH ENDS A LIFE, BUT IT WILL NEVER END A RELATIONSHIP'

Lunch Time.
Right after the mass, Everyone gathered in the Sampang Residence for lunch. A lot of people showed up and it was choas in the kitchen. Good thing we'v got people to help u serve the guests.
Visiting Him.
Later that afternoon, we all went to the cemetery to visit Tatang's resting place. We offered a prayer and flowers (courtesy of Boni and Cita Tuazon) for him.
webmaster: 'twas a busy day so I wasn't able to take pictures Sob!

Tatang's Internment (June 20 2009)

THINGS THAT WE ALREADY DEEPLY MISS ABOUT TATANG:

~Your memories will always be alive within us. There are counless memories we can't even list out! In your absence, these little things that remind us of you could make us smile or cry but these keep us from going on with our lives... as if you are still here with us. We still miss you!

1. Shirtless the entire day! (That explains it all)

2. Hanging out on the gate of our house, sitting on your favorite wooden chair

3. The sound of his antique sewing machine and the scent of new fabric as he sew

4. Playing Sound of Music on the radio while sewing

5. Being OCD and always on schedule

6. Drinking beer before dinner and having cheap (1peso) crackers to go with it

7. His 'carsisilyo' (however you spell it)

8. His collection of sticks (barug) to spank dogs

9. His hot temper ;D

10. Him taking Andre to Dominican School

11. Bringing us Dunkin Donuts Munchkins whenever he comes home from Binan

12. His 'skinny pants'

13. His witty smile

14. His constant sermons about us eating chocolate. ('Hoy, makaabtas naka nanaman batal. Mengan naka nanaman chokolate neh!)

15. Famous Words:
-oh, atno bagal eh!
-kera yuku! Anakp*** ;D
-puru nakayu saguli!
